Since the end of the 2023 high school football season, Iowa State’s top running back for the 2025 recruiting class in Gabe Fields has picked up offers from both Baylor and Toledo.

His latter two offers join Iowa State’s – his first offer – that he received over the summer.

“It’s very exciting just to know that I’m doing something right and moving in the right direction,” Fields said. “It’s like it just adds another level to it. You’ve just got to keep working hard and stick to what you’re doing.”

The 6-foot, 200-pound running back ended the season with 1,396 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, along with another 292 yards and a pair of scores through the air.

Fields comes in as a three-star prospect and the No. 15 player out of Missouri in the 2025 class – the next cycle that essentially gets moving at the conclusion of the football year.

“That is crazy to think about – that I’ll be committing this year at some point,” Fields said.

As far as when that commitment may come for Fields, whether it’s Iowa State or elsewhere, he will commit when he feels the time is right.

“Honestly, I’ll commit after talking to my family and having a conversation,” Fields said. “When you know, you know.”

“We’re on great terms,” Fields said of his conversations with Iowa State to date. “I’m still building relationships with them.”

Fields will continue work through the off-season with Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

“It’s just making sure to keep doing the stuff that got you where you are and keeping people that you care about around you. I’m trying to keep a level head – and not get too big of an ego.
