The NCAA has denied Stephanie Soares’ waiver to return to Iowa State for an extra division 1 season.

Mired by an ACL injury, Soares played in 13 of Iowa State’s 32 games this season – her only experience at the NCAA Division 1 level.

Soares and Iowa State submitted the waiver on the basis that Soares wanted to return to play an extra season due to the large amount of time she’s missed in her career because of injuries.

The rest of her collegiate basketball career came in the NAIA ranks with some international experience during the off-season.

During the year, Soares averaged 14.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and will now look forward to the WNBA Draft, set for Monday, April 10 on ESPN.

Soares and teammate Ashley Joens were each projected as top 10 picks in M.A. Voepel’s latest WNBA Mock Draft.
