Over the weekend, three-star point guard McKinley Wright listed Iowa State in his top five schools after the July live period. On Monday, he told CycloneFanatic.com that the Cyclones will get his first official visit.

The 6-foot, 180-pound, Champlin, Minn., native, is rated as the No. 169 prospect in the class of 2017 by 247. He’s the No. 33 point guard and sixth best player in the state of Minnesota.

“It’s a very good school,” Wright said. “I appreciate how Coach Prohm prioritized me from day one and kept his word ever since.”

Wright hasn’t ironed out an exact date for his visit yet. He’ll likely visit the other four schools in his top five, Minnesota, Memphis, Dayton and Xavier, before making a decision in October.

“Coach (Prohm) has sent multiple point guards to the NBA,” Wright said when asked what sticks out about Iowa State. “They do well in the tournament every year and their fan base is amazing.”
