Rain showers cooled things off for the Iowa State football team on Tuesday afternoon. The Cyclones fought fatigue a week ago while preparing for Utah. Because of that, Paul Rhoads decided to have his team practice without leg pads today. The results were evident.

“We are moving around really well,” Rhoads said. “We didn’t practice quite as long. All of that fueled a faster practice, a more energetic practice and a better practice.”

As for Iowa State’s starting running back Alexander Robinson, he did participate in workouts today.

“He ran, moved around and did pretty good,” Rhoads said. “He will practice tomorrow.”

Matt Tau’fo’ou back for Nebraska?

Iowa State’s Oct. 30 date with Kansas is probably too soon but lightly pencil in Nov. 6 vs. Nebraska as the day when middle linebacker Matt Tau’fo’ou will make his return to the lineup after suffering a broken leg in the Iowa game.

“He actually is out of his boot,” Rhoads said. “He is about right where TB (Ter’ran Benton) was as far as his rehab. Within the next two weeks, hopefully he makes great improvement. I don’t think that he will be back for Kansas but Nebraska is what we are shooting for.”
