Lake Minneola’s Quentin Taylor Jr. has his eyes set on the National Football League, and hopes to be the next Cyclone great to hail from Florida when he gets to Ames.
The 6-foot-0, 190-pound commit believes that Iowa State is the best spot for him to achieve those dreams.
“I believe in what they’re doing for the program and I believe I can be developed the best there and make it to the next level,” Taylor Jr. said.
The safety boasts the most extensive offer sheet of anyone in Iowa State’s 2024 class.
Taylor Jr. chose the Cyclones over Kansas State, West Virginia, Duke, Virginia, Washington State, James Madison, Navy, Liberty, Tulane, USF, Temple, Akron, Western Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Mercer, Columbia, Dartmouth, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Bethune Cookman, and Tennessee Tech.
Iowa State projects him in a similar roll to where T.J. Tampa plays in the defense right now.
“Either at corner or safety,” Taylor Jr. said. “They see me playing at field safety or at the boundary corner. They like me as a playmaker.”
He says the relationships he formed with Iowa State’s staff were the major catalyst to how he ended up in Ames.
“It was the relationships I formed with the coaches,” Taylor Jr. said. “Cornerbacks coach (Deon) Broomfield and coach (Matt) Campbell have been recruiting me the hardest since day 1, before I even began (getting heavily recruited).”
Taylor Jr. is one of the members of the class that will be enrolling early, and will arrive in Ames in mid-January to participate in winter workouts.
“I just want to get up there and play football,” Taylor Jr. said.
