Iowa State running back commit Dylan Lee cannot wait to get to Ames, but he’ll have to make an extra stop before he gets there.

The Gilbert, Arizona prospect will be playing in the 2023 U.S. Army Bowl on Monday, December 18 (7 p.m. CT Bally Sports Network) before officially signing his letter of intent and enrolling a semester early in Ames.

“I’m super excited to get this stuff started – and get down there and get to work,” Lee said.

The three-star running back chose Iowa State over Arizona State, Boise State, Bowling Green, UNLV, New Mexico State, UNLV and Utah State among others.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect will go right to work joining the staff in the room for the position group.

“I love it. I’ve been around some of those guys when I went up there for a trip – they’re very supportive of each other,” Lee said. “There’s no animosity throughout the room. They all want to get better each and every day and they have great people there in Coach Langs and Sheldon Croney. I can’t wait to get out there and get started.”

Lee is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 18 overall prospect out of Arizona.

“I think it’s just exciting overall, to be in a new area and a new space and to be around great coaches and great people,” Lee said. “At the end of the day, I know they’re going to get me in the right spot to succeed eventually. I think the best part about it is that I can be developed as a young man. They do a great job of doing that with their players. Every player that I’ve seen there loves the program and loves the people. Coach Campbell’s a legit coach and one of if not the best coaches in the Big 12 from what I’ve seen.”
