2024 Linn-Mar tight end commit Keaton Roskop will enroll at Iowa State a semester early this January, to continue rehab on a season-ending torn ACL that he suffered this fall.
The 6-foot-3 prospect says he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery efforts, but is taking extra precautions to make sure he can return to 100 percent.
“(My recovery has) been going really well,” Roskop said. “I think I’m almost on to four months out. We’re going to take it on the precautionary side and we’re going to push extra long on the PT time, though I’m ahead of schedule right now.”
Rated as the No. 11 prospect out of Iowa, Roskop is eager to get to Ames and kick off his collegiate career by working with the training staff.
Roskop chose the Cyclones over Texas A&M, Kansas State, Northern Illinois Army, Northern Iowa and Dartmouth.
“The coaches really made it feel like home,” Roskop said. “They made you feel like more than just a recruit to them – you weren’t just part of their job, you were part of their family. They made it feel as though you were important. They were honest with me every step of the way – telling me what they thought of me and what they expected from me. It felt like more than a coach-player relationship.”
While Roskop isn’t sure of where he’s at on a percentage scale, he’s ready to sign his national letter of intent as part of the 2024 Iowa State recruiting class on December 20.
“It means everything,” Roskop said. “To get to the next level with football and really make the best of what I can with what I’ve been given from god, and hopefully use my talents to provide the best life that I can for myself.”
Roskop will be the first Iowa State player from Linn-Mar on scholarship since kicker Grant Mahoney.
“To know that this dream of playing division 1 (football) is coming up soon is a big deal for me,” Roskop said. “It kind of will be an emotional time coming up just to know that that dream will be made official to me.”
