The No. 8 Iowa State Cyclones will host the No. 4 Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, Nov. 26 for a much anticipated Cy-Hawk showdown.

Where to Watch

ESPN will broadcast this year’s Cy-Hawk dual which will take place at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 26. This will mark the first time a college wrestling dual is broadcasted on the network’s main channel in the company’s 44-year history.

Iowa Ties on the Broadcast Team

• The accomplished career of Jim Gibbons is marked by an impressive string of victories and milestones. Gibbons clinched three state titles for Ames High before propelling to Iowa State University, where he excelled as a three-time All-American and secured two-time Big 8 championships. His journey continued post-graduation when Gibbons was appointed as an assistant coach for Iowa State. Remarkably, at the age of 26, he succeeded the legendary Harold Nichols as the head coach. Under his leadership in 1987, Iowa State triumphed in securing an NCAA championship, decisively breaking their losing streak against Iowa by defeating Gable and the Hawkeyes. Over his seven-year coaching tenure (1986-1992), Gibbons’ teams boasted an impressive 93-32-1 record in duals and secured top-three national finishes three times. Today, Gibbons stands as a color commentator for collegiate wrestling.
  
  
• Shawn Kenney is a Council Bluffs, Iowa, native and 1999 University of Iowa Broadcast Journalism graduate. In 2013, Kenney was presented with the Iowa Sports Journalism Award by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and earned the Sports Media Contributor Award in 2011 from the Iowa High School Association of Athletic Directors. Kenney joined ESPN in 2008 as a play-by-play commentator covering a number of college sports. According to his ESPN profile he covers football, basketball, baseball, and tennis, as well as the NCAA and ACC Wrestling Championships.

Cy-Hawk Facts:

• Sunday is the 87th meeting in the all-time series that began in 1912
• Iowa State’s last win in the series was 19-16 on Dec. 5, 2004, in Iowa City.
• The rivalry introduced the Dan Gable Traveling Trophy in 2010. In a joint collaboration, the schools announced the winner of the annual dual would take possession of a trophy representing Iowa State’s former two-time NCAA champion and Iowa’s 15-time NCAA championship coach.
• Sunday’s dual is the second straight meeting with both teams in the top 10 of the national rankings. 2022 was the first time since 2008-09.
