Iowa State tight end DeShawn Hanika has announced over social media that he will be entering the transfer portal with a year left of eligibility.

The Topeka, Kansas native was roped into the state’s gambling investigation and fought to be reinstated in court, but was not eligible to be on the field this year.

He appeared in all 12 games during the 2022 season for Iowa State and led the tight end room with 17 receptions for 244 yards.

Hanika scored four touchdowns during his career in Ames.
