While in town for the Cy-Hawk football game, 2025 running back prospect Gabe Fields couldn’t help by be wowed with the atmosphere surrounding Jack Trice Stadium.
From the student section to the fans he saw around him, Fields was blown away by the game day atmosphere and how the Iowa State staff hosted him on his visit.
“It was great,” Fields said. “The hospitality they treated you with was great. The coaches really know what they’re doing. The atmosphere was way different than anything I’ve ever experienced honestly. I went to KU my freshman year and it wasn’t nothing like that. It was great to see how people can just come together and support a team.”
The 6-foot, 200-pound running back holds just one offer, but it’s still early in the recruiting cycle for the class. He does not yet have a rating on 247Sports.
With that being said, Iowa State is at the top of the list, mostly because of how they treat the Missouri prospect out of Central High School in Saint Joseph.
“They’re definitely at the top,” Fields said. “I talk to other coaches, obviously, but just the way Iowa State treats me is way better than any other school has.”
So far, Fields is averaging 142.3 yards per game for the team and is leading the way with eight touchdowns.
Iowa State coaches first saw Fields this spring, and ended up offering him after a camp in Ames this summer.
“They’ve just been showing me love and trying to get me up there as many times as possible and just showing me what it’d be like to be a Cyclone one day,” Fields said.
Fields still has the rest of his junior season to go, but could be a prospect to keep an eye on as things develop for the class and for running backs coach Jordan Langs.
“(Coach Langs is) a great guy – he treats you with respect,” Fields said. “It’s really anything you’d ever want (out of a coach) honestly.”
