Iowa State’s T.J. Tampa was named as the lone Cyclone to appear on this year’s all-Big 12 preseason team on Wednesday.

Tampa’s 2022 season ended with 39 total tackles, 10 pass breakups and an interception, each being career high’s during his time as a Cyclone.

The St. Petersburg native ended the year as a second-team all-Big 12 player and started in every game for the team during the season.

Tampa chose to return to Ames for a fourth season on the field, rather than leaving early for the NFL Draft.

Tampa and the Cyclones will kick off the 2023 season against Northern Iowa on September 2 at Jack Trice Stadium (1:00 p.m. ESPN+).
