The next time David Montgomery returns to play a NFL game in Chicago, he’ll be dressed in a lighter shade of blue.

The former Bears running back and Iowa State Cyclone has signed a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions, worth $18 million.

Montgomery’s contract also contains $11 million of guaranteed money.

During the 2022 season with the Bears, Montgomery carried the ball 201 times for 801 yards rushing over the season, along with five touchdowns.

He’s had 26 rushing touchdowns in his NFL career.

Some remember Montgomery’s career with the Chicago Bears fondly, and often will bring up his 57-yard rush against the Packers in 2020, which Bears’ fans refer to as ‘The run.’
