Former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL during the first quarter of Sunday’s NFC Championship game, according to a report from Adam Schefter.
The budding rookie storyline came to an end on a play where Purdy’s arm collided with an Eagles’ defender’s helmet.
Purdy eventually had to re-enter the game, because 49ers’ backup Josh Johnson exited the game with an injury.
Even on the torn UCL, Purdy completed two more passes during the game.
He finishes his first NFL season with 1,374 yards through the air, 13 touchdowns, and just four interceptions in the nine games he played in for more than two quarters.
Purdy is expected to remain the 49ers starter according to reports that surfaced prior to the injury. He’s expected to be out for six months.
