Former Iowa State quarterback and current San Francisco 49er Brock Purdy earned NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week honors Thursday for his performance during his team’s Week 16 win over Washington.

Purdy went 15/22 with 234 yards and two touchdowns in the 37-20 victory.

“He’s been pretty consistent since he’s gotten here, but you never know until guys get in these games, which they’re a lot harder this time of year too than early on,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said in a release. “He’s been the same way he is in practice, and I think that’s why right when he got in versus Miami you could hear the players having confidence in him. It’s only gotten stronger because this is the only way they’ve seen him.”

It’s the third week of the 2022 season a former Cyclone has won the award, with Breece Hall earning the honors during Week 4 and Week 6.
