Iowa State quarterback commit J.J. Kohl has moved into the top 100 nationally in 2023 class recruiting rankings.

With the update to ESPN’s slate of prospects, Kohl is now rated as the No. 97 overall prospect and 10th-best quarterback in the country.

Through seven games of the high school football season in Iowa, Kohl has helped the Ankeny Hawks to a 6-1 record.

With 1396 yards on a 65.2 percent completion rating, Kohl has been a piece Ankeny is leaning on to earn a return trip to the state championship game.

The Iowa native has thrown for nine touchdowns and rushed for three more, adding 171 yards on the ground.

Kohl and the Hawks face Waukee Northwest in their next matchup Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Ankeny City Stadium.
