What’s up guys. Welcome to our weekly blog post on what we saw in Iowa State recruiting over the week. This will encompass any commitments, visits, or content produced here at Cyclone Fanatic. Here’s your recruiting roundup:

Four-star quarterback J.J. Kohl commits

Kohl chose Iowa State over Iowa, Florida State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas among others. We caught up with him in the link above.

Iowa State the latest to offer highly touted Minnesota DL
The Cyclones became the 20th FBS program to extend an offer to Prior Lake, Minnesota’s Martin Owusu this week.

Owusu has recently caught fire between a surge of offers from power five schools in Cal, Washington and Kansas State.

He doesn’t yet have an offer from his in-state program in Minnesota, but said that makes the schools that he has a relationship with – like Iowa State – all the more meaningful.

Beni Ngoyi visited Ames with his older brother and nephew and got a lot out of his time at the facilities.

Basketball Bonus
Both the men’s and women’s basketball programs saw additions to their 2022-23 rosters this week.

The headliner came on the women’s side, as two-time NAIA Player of the Year Stephanie Soares announced she would transfer to Iowa State from The Master’s University. Soares was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and chose TMU because of family ties.

Iowa State’s men’s team saw the addition of VCU transfer Hason Ward to the roster. Ward averaged 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the program last year.
