Following Tamin Lipsey’s state championship in Iowa last week, another pair of Iowa State signees led their teams to the Minnesota HS state tournament.

Eli King and Demarion Watson both saw their teams win section finals on Thursday night and will now advance to next week’s tournament – which kicks off on Tuesday.

King was a standout all season for Caledonia, but had one of his best games of the season on Thursday.

In a triple-overtime victory, King led his team 30 points and eventually made the game-clinching dunk.

Watson led his team with 11 points in the first half in front of a packed house at Columbia Heights.

His Totino-Grace team stunned the crowd and skated away with a 48-44 win.

The state tournament will begin on Tuesday, March 22 and run through the end of the week on Saturday. Games will be played at both the Target Center, Williams Arena and also at Concordia University.

The schedule for the games will be released at a later date, once all section finals have been played.
