The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletics:

AMES, Iowa – The recognition continues to roll in for Iowa State’s Ashley Joens, as she was recently named to both the 2022 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Midseason Team and the Late Season Watch List for The Dawn Staley Award.

Joens has had another strong season leading the No. 9 Cyclones. She leads the team and ranks third in the Big 12 with 19.4 points per game, which includes nine 20-point efforts. Her scoring prowess has seen her move up to 2,106 career points, just 44 away from becoming ISU’s all-time leading scorer.

On the boards, Joens is getting 9.1 rebounds per game and has 11 double-doubles to her name, moving up to 42 in her career. She is just 40 rebounds away from becoming the fourth player in Iowa State history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.

The Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy, presented by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, is annually given to the nation’s most outstanding women’s college basketball player. The Dawn Staley Award, presented by The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia, is given annually to the best guard in Division I women’s college basketball.
