Iowa State announced the addition of transfer Patrick Noonan from Virginia on Monday.

Noonan won’t be eligible until the 2022-23 season but he will have three years of eligibility to compete for the Cyclones.

He announced on Jan. 6 via Twitter that he was entering the transfer portal.

The Pennsylvania native went 4-1 this season for the Cavaliers. He also had a fifth-place finish at the Southeast Open where he won two of his matches by major decision.

Noonan has also wrestled at 141 pounds, which could be big for head coach Kevin Dresser when he begins to look for the next guy after Ian Parker graduates.

In high school, Noonan was a Pennsylvania State Championship runner-up and a three-time NHSCA All-American.

“I’m very blessed to join the legacy of Iowa State wrestling and grow as a wrestler with these guys. Iowa State is exactly where I need to be and I couldn’t be more excited for the coming years. Roll Clones!” said Noonan in a release shared by Iowa State Wrestling.
