Iowa State welcomed former Toledo commit Terrell Crosby to Ames over the weekend and successfully flipped the prospect from the blue and gold to the cardinal and gold.

Crosby, a three-star prospect listed as an athlete by the recruiting services, will sign with the program out of Lakeside High School in Florida on Wednesday as part of the Early Signing Period.

“Iowa State’s just better,” Crosby told Cyclone Fanatic on Sunday. “It’s a better place for me.”

The 6-foot, 178-pounder is expected to play cornerback at the collegiate level.

Following a high school career that saw him play both ways as a wideout and defensive back, he looks forward to combining his skills on the defensive side.

“I played receiver and when I play man coverage – I’m just reading the receiver,” Crosby said. “When the balls in the air I go get the ball. I turn into the receiver and I get to go catch it.”

He attributed Coach Matt Campbell and the desire to succeed on and off the football field to what led to the switch.

“Coach Campbell – besides football wants to help me with academics,” Crosby said. “They’re a really good team.”

Crosby held offers from Houston and Middle Tennessee as well as Toledo, before flipping his commitment on Sunday afternoon.

With the departure of Noble Thomas from the class, Iowa State is currently projected to sign 19 players on Wednesday morning’s early signing day.

Prior to Crosby’s commitment, the recruiting class was ranked at No. 19 in the nation via 247 Sports.
