Iowa State wide receiver Tarique Milton will finish his college career with another program.

The senior from Bradenton, Fla. has entered the transfer portal after spending five years at Iowa State, as first reported by CycloneAlert’s Michael Swain.

Cyclone Fanatic publisher Chris Williams has confirmed Milton will leave Iowa State in search of more playing time with another program during his extra year of eligibility granted to student-athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After redshirting the 2017 season, Milton broke out in 2018 by catching 34 passes for 417 yards and a touchdown. His best season came in 2019 when he caught 35 passes for 722 yards and three scores.

Milton was bit by the injury bug for the majority of the 2020 and 2021 seasons as he recorded just 30 catches for 380 yards and three touchdowns during his last two seasons in Ames. Some of those receptions were memorable, though, including a long catch and run on a screen pass in the regular-season win over Oklahoma in 2020, a crucial catch and run down to near the goal line in the win over Oklahoma State and a touchdown reception from Xavier Hutchinson in the win over Texas in 2021.

Additionally, Milton leaves Iowa State with the seventh-best punt return average in program history with 10.68 yards per return. He’s also one of only 10 Iowa Staters since 2000 to record 1,500-plus receiving yards in their careers.

Milton’s decision isn’t shocking when you consider the emergence of true freshman pass-catcher Jaylin Noel this season for Iowa State and surely plenty of opportunities will come Milton’s way through the portal.
