Iowa State picks up commitment from three-year Minnesota starter

This is a good add for the Cyclones.

On Saturday morning, Gabe Kalscheur tweeted out his commitment to Iowa State. Kalscheur, a 6-foot-4 guard, started all three seasons during his time as a Gopher averaging over 30 minutes and 10 points per game during that time.

Thought of as an elite defender in the Big Ten, Kalscheur will likely be an immediate starter from the day he walks into Ames.

Minnesota’s new coaching staff was heavily trying to keep Kalscheur in Minneapolis. Wisconsin was also hot on his trail. This is a solid recruiting win in the upper Midwest for an Iowa State staff that is going “suffocate” this region, according to the words of T.J. Otzelberger.

The commitment comes less than 12 hours after Jalen Coleman-Lands entered the transfer portal.

All signs point to this being a busy weekend in Ames so as always, stay tuned to CycloneFanatic.com for more updates.
