Jamie Pollard shed further light on Iowa State’s financial future and the plans for previously announced projects on Monday.
During a 10 minute video released by Iowa State Athletics, Pollard detailed how the department plans to work through a $25 million budget shortfall brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. That shortfall number, while significant, is reduced from the more than $40 million deficit the department could have faced without a full fall football season.
Among the priorities for the department moving forward are reinstating full salaries for employees who took cuts last spring, renegotiating the contracts of Matt Campbell and the entire football staff and beginning work on some major previously announced projects, including the University Ave. pedestrian bridge, which is expected to begin later this year.
Several of the planned projects, including the pedestrian bridge, will be funded completely by private donors.
