Iowa State added a key piece to its 2021 football recruiting class on Sunday in the form of a prep running back out of Arizona named Eli Sanders.
The 6-foot, 190-pound prospect out of Chandler chose Iowa State over Iowa and a handful of other power five options.
Sanders is the second running back commitment for the Cyclones in its 2021 class joining Deon Silas out of Florida.
Sanders ran for 1,377 yards and averaged 7.5 yards per carry during his senior season. 247 Sports ranks Sanders as the ninth-best prospect in the state of Arizona.
Sanders had previously committed to Boise State on July 4, but since reopened his recruitment.
Iowa State signed 18 prospects to its class in December. Sanders joins wide receiver Robert Army as a commitment set to sign with the program in February.
