The NCAA Women’s basketball season kicks off in 15 short days, and the Cyclones will tip-off with their highest ranking since 2001.

Iowa State, on Tuesday, was tabbed at No. 15 in the initial AP Poll – its highest start since they were No. 8 nearly 20 years ago.

The intrigue to start the year will be sky high for the Cyclones, who last hit the floor in February to upset Baylor in their final game of the 2019-20 season.

Iowa State is one of two Big 12 programs ranked in the poll, joining No. 4 Baylor.

Only one Big 12 school was tabbed under the receiving votes category in Texas, who was the first team out.

Iowa State will face No. 1 South Carolina when the Gamecocks come to town on December 6.

The Cyclones will begin their season against Omaha before the end of the month on Wednesday, November 25. The game is scheduled to tipoff at noon.
