Iowa State didn’t play a game on Saturday but the Cyclones did score a significant win on the recruiting trail.
Malik Verdon, a 6-foot-3 athlete out of Ohio, chose Iowa State over the likes of Iowa, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Pitt, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and a handful of Group of 5 teams.
Verdon, who hails from Hamilton, Ohio, projects to be a safety at the next level.
Verdon previously committed to Miami (Ohio) and reopened his recruiting process last week.
247Sports ranks Verdon as the 48th best prospect in the state of Ohio’s class of 2021. He is a three-star prospect according to the recruiting service.
Iowa State currently has 20 known commitments in the class of 2021.
