Iowa State is among the schools in the top-10 for one of the nation’s best 2021 point guard prospects.
Racine, Wis. native Tyrese Hunter released his list Monday afternoon on Twitter with the Cyclones included alongside Florida, Virginia Tech, Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, Marquette, Texas Tech, UConn and Georgia.
Hunter, 6-foot-1, 160-pounds, is considered the No. 13 point guard in the country and No. 81 player overall by 247Composite. The four-star prospect is currently regarded as the No. 2 player in the state of Wisconsin.
The Cyclones were the second program to offer Hunter a scholarship when they did so on May 12.
Cutting the list to 10 narrows Hunter’s collegiate options from the 21 schools that have offered him a scholarship. The list of schools that missed the cut includes Creighton, Minnesota, Louisville, Northwestern and Texas A&M.
Hunter was a first-team all-state selection as a junior after helping Racine achieve an undefeated season while averaging 21.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3 steals and shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.
Iowa State currently projects to have three open scholarships for the 2021 recruiting cycle.
