RECRUITING: Cyclones in Coleman-Lands’ top-five

Iowa State is in the top-five for one of the nation’s top available immediately eligible transfers.

DePaul graduate transfer Jalen Coleman-Lands listed the Cyclones in his final group along with Michigan, USC, NC State and Cal. Iowa State currently has three scholarships open for the 2020-21 season.

Coleman-Lands, a 6-foot-4 Indianapolis native, averaged 11.1 points per game last season for the Blue Devils plus added 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He started his career at Illinois, averaging 10.3 points per game as a freshman in 2015-16.

The former four-star recruit, who was rated as the No. 37 player in the country in the 2015 recruiting class, did take a visit to Michigan during his initial recruiting process but has no other reported prior connections to any of the other top schools on his list.

Iowa State has been in the mix for a number of potential transfer targets during the spring recruiting period, but has landed only one in former Memphis point guard Tyler Harris.
