RECRUITING: Cyclones land commitment from Ohio defensive end

Iowa State’s roll on the 2021 recruiting trail continued on Thursday.

The Cyclones landed their 10th commit when Ohio defensive end Myles Mendeszoon announced his pledge to the Cyclones on Twitter. He is the program’s fifth commitment in the month of April.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Chardon, Ohio native is considered a two-star recruit and the No. 91 weak-side defensive end in the class by 247Composite. He chose the Cyclones over offers from Bucknell and Georgetown.

He is the Cyclones’ second defensive line commitment in the class, joining Kansas City defensive tackle Howard Brown, and is the first player to join the class from Matt Campbell’s home state of Ohio.

Iowa State entered Thursday with the No. 23 class in the country and No. 4 class in the Big 12, according to 247.
