Here’s the deal: I have a lot of respect for Chris Klieman and what he has done this year in Manhattan but I think Iowa State has a more talented football team than K-State. I also know that Iowa State has a pretty darn good coach in its own right. I know that Bill Snyder Family Stadium has been a house of horrors in the past but this is a new era of Cyclone Football, right?
Another heart-pounder, anxiety-inducer in Manhattan is coming. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come down to the wave of a pass interference flag being picked up.
I’m overseas so I can only provide cursory analysis. Klieman’s version of K-State is tough as nails, but I think talent wins out.
Iowa State does some things that will cause Kansas State problems. But, physical play will have to be primary. Breece Hall will be the pivot player for ISU. If Knowles is limited, so will be KSU.
The key to beating Kansas State (Vampire and Vampire Jr. administrations) is discipline. They are never going to be the most talented team on earth, but they will always be one of the most consistent executors. So if you rely on talent rather than being in the right spot *coughoklahomacough*, this team will nip you. Iowa State just had a kick to the nads to get them refocused on execution and not thinking they can just rely on talent. With a renewed week of solid practice, the ISU defense has one of their best outings of the season and Brock Purdy does Brock Purdy things. But some weird crap is gonna happen. Always does in Manhattan.
I fully suspect we’ll get one of Iowa State’s stronger performances of the seasons, and they’re going to need it to find a win. The vampire was slain last season but all signs point to this still being a root canal.
