Earlier this week, the Big 12 released its preseason poll and all-league teams for the preseason.

For the ninth time in school history, the Baylor Bears have been picked to win the conference once again.

With all nine coaches not named Kim Mulkey (coaches can’t vote for their own team) picking the Bears to win, they easily took the top spot in the Big 12.

Iowa State came in at fourth behind Texas and West Virginia, barely squaring off Kansas State for the spot.

For comparison, the Cyclones were picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 last year and ended up taking the No. 2 seed in the conference.

The full poll can be seen below.

2019-20 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll

1. Baylor (9) – 81
2. Texas (1) – 71
3. West Virginia – 66
4. Iowa State – 49
5. K-State – 47
6. Oklahoma State – 39
7. Oklahoma – 34
8. TCU – 27
9. Texas Tech – 26
10. Kansas – 10

The conference also released its all-Big 12 First Team as well as Honorable Mention notables.

The group of 21 players included two Cyclones in Kristin Scott – who made first team honors – and Ashley Joens – who was selected as an honorable mention.

Both Scott and Joens will be integral to the Cyclones success this season as the team tries to replace 2018-19 Big 12 Player of the Year Bridget Carleton.
