Iowa State is 24th in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll

Iowa State landed at No. 24 in the season-opening Amway Coaches Poll that was released on Thursday.

In addition to Iowa State, notable teams ranked:

4 . Oklahoma – Oklahoma is loaded on offense. The offense has always been Oklahoma’s strength but it’s the defense that will need to take a step forward. They went out and hired Alex Grinch, who is faced with the task  to turn this thing around.

10. Texas – This team will go as far as Sam Ehlinger can take it. If Ehlinger has the season that everyone is projecting him to have, Texas will be in the playoff discussion and he will be in New York.

19. Iowa – The Hawkeyes return Nate Stanley and load of talent on the defensive side of the ball. They do have to replace the two-headed monster they had at tight end last year. Similar to Texas, Stanley’s play will determine how far they will go
