AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior defensive back Greg Eisworth was named to the Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list, announced today by the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award.

The award is given annually to the nation’s best defensive back since 1986.

Eisworth, a native of Grand Prairie, Texas, had and outstanding debut season for the Cyclones in 2018, earning Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year accolades and First-Team All-Big 12 recognition.

Eisworth started 12 games and led the Cyclones in tackles per game (7.2) to rank eighth in the Big 12.

He led the team in tackles in five of 12 games played and registered 4.0 TFL, an interception and two forced fumbles.
