The Iowa State women’s basketball team earned a commitment from a top 50 guard in the 2020 class on Thursday afternoon in Emily Ryan.
Ryan – the reigning back-to-back Kansas high school Player of the Year – brings in an impressive resume with her to Ames.
On top of being a four-star recruit on ESPN, Ryan is a three-time state champion and has not lost a game in her high school career.
The staff is certainly excited.

The star guard from Central Plains High School surpassed 2,000 points during her junior year.
She committed to Iowa State with offers in hand from eight other Big 12 schools as well as Oregon State, Nebraska, Missouri, and even Final Four participant Oregon.
The only school in the conference that had yet to offer her was Baylor.
According to a scout with ESPN, Ryan is a “poised floor-leader with unselfish persona handles. [One that] distributes in uptempo game [and is a] shot maker with range to the arc.”
That fits a lot of teams needs and they’ll get it all with one player.
“She’s going to make some program really happy,” Ryan’s high school coach Pat Stiles told CatchItKansas.com after she scored her 2,000th point. “The greatest thing about her is her intangibles and her leadership. She’s just such a great leader in practice and in games. She just won’t ever let us have a bad practice.”
Ryan has made her name known immensely in Kansas, and it looks like the same might happen in the state of Iowa in a few years, too.
