WRESTLING: Dresser lands two top commits

Ames — Iowa State wrestling picked up two commitments this weekend.

On Saturday, it was top-ranked Ryan Anderson from Pennsylvania. On Sunday, in-state prospect Cody Fisher made his announcement.

Anderson, who wrestles for Bethlehem Catholic in Pennsylvania, is ranked No. 1  in his weight class and ranked ninth overall in the 2019 recruiting class. He has also competed in some of the toughest wrestling tournaments in the country. Anderson won the Super 32 Challenge at 138-pounds and placed third at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman challenge at 132-pounds.

Rutgers and Penn State were among the schools that Anderson had been considered before landing at Iowa State. Anderson was also in attendance this weekend at Iowa State wrestling’s open mat practice that was held outside of Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday.

Fisher, who will be entering his junior year at Woodward-Granger, is the first 2020 commit to the Iowa State wrestling program. A two-time state runner-up. With an impressive resume already, in just two years Fisher has a 100-9 record.
