Recruiting Roundup: August 4, 2018

August 1st marks the first day a school can offer official scholarships and the Cyclone offers made the rounds on Twitter in the middle of the week.  August also marks the start of a dead as the one week quiet period ended on the last day of July.  Lots of action as 14 prospects with offers committed in the last week, but none of those were pledges to the Cyclones.  The trail opens back up in a month as schools are allowed to select 42 calendar days between September 1st and November 24th for the evaluation period to contact and visit targets.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State made the top 12 of point guard Kira Lewis (Hazel Green, Ala.) that he released on Twitter Tuesday.  I normally don’t report a top list over 10, but being a 5-star prospect with 33 offers (24 P6 offers), I will make an exception.  Lewis is rated as the No. 4 PG in the class and No. 30 overall.  The Cyclones offered on January 14th.

*** Class of 2020 power forward Chris Moore (West Memphis, Ark.) arrived on an unofficial visit to Ames Friday and will be in town today as well.  ISU offered Moore on June 28th, joining offers from Arkansas, Memphis, SMU, Southern Miss and TCU.

*** Power forward Ben Carlson (St. Paul, Minn.) will visit Iowa State, Nebraska and Creighton the weekend of the 17th, according to Jake Weingarten of stockrisers.com.  This will be at least the third visit for Carlson, whose father Marc played for the Cyclones in the early 90’s.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** The Cyclones hosted cornerback Caleb Roberson (St. Louis, Mo.) on an unofficial visit on Monday.  He was offered on May 2nd.

*** Iowa State is listed in the top 3 for linebacker Jalen Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.), along with Arizona State and Utah.  ISU offered May 9th and is thought to be recruiting him as a defensive back.

*** Cornerback Isaiah Essissima (Missouri City, Texas) released a top 6 on Twitter Monday that included the Cyclones.  The other teams in the list were Boise State, Houston, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.  Iowa State offered May 10th and he will announce his decision September 7th.
