AMES, Iowa – Iowa State’s Nick Weiler-Babb and Solomon Young will miss extended time, head coach men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm announced Tuesday afternoon.
Weiler-Babb, a junior from Arlington, Texas, is expected to miss the remainder of the season after physicians at McFarland Clinic and in Dallas consulted following his visit there this week. Weiler-Babb will have further testing in the upcoming days.
Young, a sophomore from Sacramento, California, had successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday. He is expected to make a full recovery, resuming basketball activities in three to four weeks.
“It is unfortunate for Nick and Solomon because of the hard work they have put into our program,” Prohm said. “We always want to do what is in the best interest of our players and their health is our top priority.”
Weiler-Babb has played in 22 games, averaging 11.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists. Young has started all 26 games this season, averaging 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.
