WBB PREVIEW: Iowa State looks to build momentum against UC Riverside

AMES — Coming off their best win of the season, the Cyclones hope to make it two straight against the UC Riverside Highlanders today in Hilton Coliseum. (2 P.M. on Cyclones T.V.)

Iowa State is in desperate need to build some momentum with only two games left on the non-conference schedule.

Freshmen Kristin Scott had a bounce-back performance in Iowa State’s crushing victory over NC-Central last Sunday. Scott told the media on Thursday that the team is centered on themselves, taking it game-by-game.

“Just making sure we’re doing the little things right, more focusing on us and what we do in order to win games,” said Scott.

Based off of last week’s performance, both Scott and fellow post player Meredith Burkhall – who finished with 19 points and six rebounds against NC Central – could serve valuable for this team entering Big 12 play.

Adriana Camber agrees.

“We saw that it worked, and that it brings confidence to the team,” said Camber. “A lot of credit to the big guys running the floor, if we can keep doing that, we’ll be a good team.”

The freshmen out of Sweden has knocked down three or more triples in four of the last five games for Iowa State. The trio of Camber, Emily Durr, and Bridget Carleton look to continue firing from deep, as all three are currently shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc.

When those 3-point shots can go the Cyclones way, it’s all smiles for the players both on and off the court.

“I hope everyone enjoys watching us play as much as we enjoy playing together,” Camber said.

FINAL NOTES

Bridget Carleton is 34 points away from 1,000 in her career. She is currently on pace to become the fastest Cyclone to reach 1,000 points.
