St. John Bosco, the defending state champions in California, enter the game as the nation’s No. 3 team while Aquinas, the defending champions in Florida, are No. 5.

Mitchell is rated as the No. 21 dual-threat quarterback in the country by 247Composite. He is the highest-rated player in Iowa State’s class and the No. 597 prospect in the country.

The 5-foot-11.5, 190-pound signal-caller threw for 30 touchdowns and ran for 15 more as a junior last season while leading St. John Bosco to the nation’s No.2 ranking.
