Junior college defensive tackle Kamilo Tongamoa has officially arrived in Ames and we have our first look at him in an Iowa State uniform. The Merced C.C. product has been cleared to participate in practice and games in 2017, according to an Iowa State press release.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound defensive lineman was rated as the No. 28 JUCO prospect in the country by 247Composite. He was the No. 3 junior college defensive tackle and No. 5 junior college player in California.

The addition of Tongamoa further bolsters an Iowa State defensive line that will likely have more depth than any in recent seasons. He joins junior college transfers Matt Leo and Ray Lima as players who could make serious impacts for the Cyclones’ defense in 2017.

Who knows what Tongamoa’s conditioning levels are like at this point, but at least he will have the opportunity to work his way into shape and onto the field at some point for the Cyclones in 2017.
