Iowa State freshman quarterback Devon Moore‘s first college football season is over. The Waterloo, West product will miss the 2017 season with a torn ACL, according to a report by The Des Moines Register’s Tommy Birch.
This is the second season in a row Iowa State’s freshman quarterback will miss the season with a torn ACL after Zeb Noland missed all of last season. Moore was expected to redshirt regardless, but the injury will prevent him from getting a year’s worth of valuable reps.
Moore was Matt Campbell’s first commitment as the head coach of the Cyclones. He threw for 2,331 yards and 29 touchdown passes during his senior season at Waterloo, West.
According to Campbell, Moore had positioned himself well in the battle for the job as Iowa State’s backup quarterback behind Noland and senior Kyle Kempt.
“Devon Moore: high-end talent,” Campbell said during his media day press conference last week. “Can really throw the football and do what we need to do.”
