Where will Monte Morris go in tonight’s NBA Draft?

The NBA Draft will get underway tonight at 6 p.m. central time and finally months of speculation will come to an end. You can tune into the draft tonight on ESPN or, if you want to be like me, you can watch The Vertical‘s Draft stream and get the same information sooner.

Former Iowa State point guard Monte Morris will likely be taken somewhere in the draft’s second round, but draft experts haven’t been able to come to a consensus on a likely landing spot.

Morris was slated to be picked at No. 52 by the Washington Wizards in The Ringer’s mock draft, but New Orleans acquired that pick in exchange for backup point guard Tim Frazier on Wednesday. They say his best-case scenario for player comparison would be Earl Watson or Keyon Dooling.

“A talented pick-and-roll playmaker,” The Ringer says on Morris. “Who has elite court vision and makes pinpoint passes.”

Sam Vecenie of Seth’s Draft House has Morris going with the No. 40 pick to the Pelicans.

“The Pelicans traded their backup point guard Tim Frazier for the №52 overall pick on Wednesday,” Vecenie wrote. “While it did help to carve out some cap space, it also left them with a pretty hole at the position on the roster, given that Jrue Holiday will enter free agency. Morris is a smart draftee for the Pelicans, as he’d be the perfect backup point guard that could even be pressed into early minutes depending on how the Holiday situation pans out.”

Interestingly, Morris has fallen completely out of DraftExpress‘ mock draft in its most recent update. So, we really have no idea where Morris will be picked or if he’ll be picked at all.
