Iowa State made the cut for three-star Texas linebacker Brian Johnson’s top seven. The 6-foot-2, 183-pound Manvel (TX) outside linebacker announced his list of top schools on Twitter earlier this week.
The Cyclones were included in the group with Baylor, Texas A&M, Louisville, Missouri and Illinois. Those seven schools stood out from a list of 19 offers that also included Oklahoma State, SMU, Utah, Arizona State and West Virginia.
Johnson is rated as the No. 47 outside linebacker and No. 694 player in the country by 247Composite. He’s considered the No. 88 prospect in Texas.
He’s made 121 tackles, 12 of them for a loss, three sacks, 10 pass breakups and an interception during his past two high school seasons.
