Bill Fennelly dismissed from Nikki Moody lawsuit

The Attorney General’s Office notified Iowa State University on M0nday that women’s basketball Coach Bill Fennelly has been officially dismissed from the lawsuit being brought by former women’s basketball player Nikki Moody. Attorneys representing Moody originally filed a lawsuit on April 15, 2016, against Iowa State University and Fennelly.

“Very happy about what is a very positive development,” Fennelly told Cyclone Fanatic in a text message on Monday. “SO grateful for the AMAZING support I have had!! Love Iowa State in every way.”

Moody, the school’s all-time leader in assists, alleged Fennelly racially discriminated against her and other African-American teammates in the lawsuit.

A Polk County court document provided by Iowa State says Fennelly was dismissed from the suit “without prejudice.”

The Attorney General’s office will continue to work directly with the plaintiff’s attorneys regarding the remaining claims against the University.
