Wigginton and Oak Hill’s season comes to an end in loss to Findlay Prep

Iowa State signee Lindell Wigginton scored 13 points on 4-of-19 shooting and dished out seven assists in a 77-65 loss to Findlay Prep (NV) in the quarterfinals of Dicks Nationals on Thursday. Oak Hill’s season comes to an end with a 38-5 record.

Findlay Prep, who was led by 22 points from Kentucky signee P.J. Washington, jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the game, but Oak Hill stormed back in the second quarter and held a one-point lead at the halftime break.

In the second half, Findlay Prep used a 15-2 third quarter run fueled by Washington plus 21 points a piece from 2017 forward Lamine Diane and 2018 forward Reggie Chaney, to pull away for good. Kansas signee Billy Preston led Oak Hill with 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

The Warriors had advanced to the last three Dicks Nationals championship games, including winning the tournament in 2016, and combined to shoot 8-of-30 from behind the 3-point-arc. This was Oak Hill’s first loss in the quarterfinal round since 2013.

Findlay will take on the winner of tonight’s game between No. 1 La Lumiere (IN) and No. 8 Wasatch (UT) in the semifinals on Friday.
