For the second year in a row, it appears that Iowa State will lose a graduate transfer offensive lineman after National Signing Day.
Last year it was Tyler Catalina to Georgia. This year, it’s Khaliel Rodgers to North Carolina.
Rodgers, a 6-foot-2, 320-pound interior lineman flipped his commitment on Thursday night in news that was first reported by Scout.com.
That’s a tough break for an Iowa State team that desperately needs offensive linemen. Rodgers, a backup at USC last season, was expected to make an immediate impact and start from day one in Ames.
Iowa State has not confirmed that Rodgers has flipped, however the prospect’s Twitter profile picture is now of him in a North Carolina jersey.
The only good news to come from this news is that Iowa State’s other offensive line graduate transfer, Dave Dawson of Michigan re-confirmed his commitment to Iowa State after learning about Rodgers.
