Iowa State trailed Kansas by 15 points in the second half.

No problem.

In overtime, Iowa State 92, No. 3 Kansas 89. That’s a wrap.

The Cyclones, who were led by Deonte Burton’s 29 points on 7-of-9 3-point shooting, became the only school in Bill Self’s career to win two games at The Phog. Wayne Morgan’s team that was led by Curtis Stinson and Will Blaylock also accomplished this rare feat in 2005.

Iowa State trailed by 14 at halftime but made 18 of 34 3-pointers to overcome being destroyed in the paint by 16.

Along with Burton, the seniors stepped up. Monte Morris went 9-of-16 from the floor for 26 points. Naz Mitrou-Long made six threes and had 22 points.

Check out CycloneFanatic.com later today for more on this big win. I’ll have an instant reaction podcast and a column up in a few.
