The Iowa State football team landed its first commit of the 2019 class and it starts with a quarterback — identical to the 2017 class.

The Cyclones landed Belleville (Mich.) dual-threat quarterback, Dwan Mathis, one day after taking his unofficial visit to campus.

The 6-foot-4 signal caller had three other reported scholarship offers: Kentucky, Cincinnati and Toledo.

While Mathis is currently committed to the Cyclones, he still has 24 months until his signing day. Back in October of 2016, Mathis told Land of 10 that he was working hard to obtain a scholarship offer from Michigan State. Mathis’ hometown is only an hour away from East Lansing. However, the Spartans have yet to offer Mathis.
