ESPN is reporting that Houston’s Tom Herman will be the man who replaces Charlie Strong at Texas. The Longhorns, after losing to TCU on Friday, went 5-7 this year. Strong’s three year record at Texas was 16-21.

Herman on the other hand led Houston to a 22-4 mark during his two years with the program. Prior to that, he was Urban Meyer’s offensive coordinator at Ohio State where the Buckeyes won a national championship.

His stop before that of course was in Ames, for three seasons as Paul Rhoads’ offensive coordinator. Herman coached Iowa State’s offense in two bowl games – the Insight Bowl win over Minnesota and a loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Herman is a free spirit, a fun guy and I could not be more happy to have him back in the Big 12.

This is going to be fun.
