RECRUITING: Cyclones make 4-star WR KJ Hamler’s top five

Iowa State has made the top five for 2017 four-star wide receiver KJ Hamler. The 5-foot-9-inch, 156-pound, IMG Academy product announced his top five schools via his Twitter account on Thursday.

Hamler is rated as the No. 42 wide receiver in the class by 247 Composite. He’s the No. 301 prospect overall.

Arizona, Oregon, Penn State and Michigan State are the other four schools included in his top five. The Farmington, Mich. native also held offers from Louisville, Michigan, Maryland, Nebraska, Tennessee and a handful of others.

Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell first offered Hamler when he was the head coach at Toledo and the speedy receiver was in the eighth grade. Hamler took an unofficial visit to Ames back in June.

Iowa State is looking to add Hamler to their 2017 class that includes two other wide receivers, Arkansas three-star Josh Johnson and three-star JUCO Matt Eaton. The Cyclones currently have 19 commits in their class.
